Krystie is a 2000 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Kent State University. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in marketing and a submajor in advertising. Krystie graduated with honors from Howland High School in 1995 and was a majorette there for four years. She is additionally a graduate of the Walt Disney World College Program. Krystie was also a cheerleader for six years before becoming a majorette her freshman year.
Krystie was Miss Greater Cleveland 2000 and Miss Stark County 2001. Both of these titles are preliminaries of the Miss Ohio and Miss America Scholarship Programs. She was an interview, swimsuit, and evening gown winner at the local of Miss Ohio, talent award winner at Miss Ohio in 2000, and a finalist at Miss Ohio in 2001. Krystie has passed on her love of pageants on to her dancers who have won the state titles of Miss Pennsylvania Outstanding Teen 2006 and Miss Ohio Outstanding Teen 2005 as well as a variety of other regional pageant titles.
Krystie began her dance training at the age of three and has not stopped training since. She has traveled throughout the U.S. winning both regional and national top overall awards for her dancing, teaching, choreography, and costume designs. In 2002, 2003, and 2004, Krystie was named the National Choreographer of the Year for K.A.R., in 2005, 2006, and 2007 she was awarded the National Best Choreography Award for Star Systems and in 2008 and 2009 she was awarded the National Best Choreography Award for Starpower. Each year she is also awarded the “Best Choreography” Award at various regional dance competitions. Krystie’s choreography was sought after by the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program for which she served as the choreographer for a period of two years. She was also the choreographer for the YSU Danceline in the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 seasons, John F. Kennedy’s Danceline for the year that it existed, and the Miss Stark County Scholarship Program.
In February 2009, Krystie’s Dance Academy was named the 1st Most Competitive Dance Studio in Ohio, 10th in the United States, and 13th in North America by Dancer Magazine. Krystie’s Competition Team is continually garnered with 1st Overall High Score of the Entire Competition, 1st Overall, Highest Scoring Technique, Platinum, and Special Awards in the solo, duet/trio, small group, large group, and line/production categories. Krystie’s Team has traveled to a National each summer since its inception in 2001. They returned in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 with multiple National Dance Championships.
In the summers of 2009 and 2008, Krystie’s Competition Team was named Starpower’s “Victory Cup” Winners in the 12 & Under Division for being the 1st Overall Highest Scoring Routine of the entire National in that age division. KDA was the Grand National Jr. Champions 1st Runner-Up of Star Systems in 2007, the Grand National Mini Champions of Star Systems in 2006, the Grand National Jr. Champions 1st Runner-Up of Star Systems in 2006, Grand National Jr. Champions of Star Systems in 2005, and Intermediate Grand Champions at K.A.R. in 2004.
In the Summer of 2009, Krystie’s students were named National Miss Dance Starpower, Miss Teen Dance Starpower 1st Runner, Up, and Miss Jr. Dance Starpower 1st Runner Up. In 2008, they were awarded the following National Dance Titles: Miss Petite Dance Starpower, Miss Petite Dance Star Systems, Miss Jr. Starpower, Miss Petite Encore, Miss Petite Dance Starpower 1st Runner Up, Miss Junior Dance Starpower 1st Runner Up, and Miss Teen Dance Starpower 2nd and 3rd Runner Ups. Her students also held National Titles in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 for Star Systems and K.A.R. Krystie’s Team Members have also been awarded the title of National Miss Photogenic at Starpower, Star Systems and K.A.R. competitions. They have also been featured in national ads for Starpower, Star Systems, and K.A.R. competitions as well as Tia’s Dancewear.
Krystie’s Dancers are continually recognized at Dance Conventions. They have been awarded dance scholarships to the Broadway Dance Center in N.Y.C, The Edge Performing Arts Center in L.A., Millennium in L.A., and the Broadway Experience; convention scholarships to NYCDA, NUVO, Jump, West Coast Dance Explosion, Shock, Wild, Dance Power Express, Conquest Dance Intensive, and Hollywood Vibe; and invitations to represent Team USA at the World Dance Championships in Germany, be part of National Dance Teams, to dance in Australia for K.A.R. and at the Macy’s Day Parade, Orange Bowl, and Disney World.
Krystie”s regional and national judging credits include Star Systems, K.A.R. and Starlink. She is very honored to have been asked to also join the judging panels of Starpower, Nexstar, and Dance Xplosion, and Legacy over the past few years. Krystie looks forward to judging a National this summer.
