The Place to Dance!

Miami Valley Dance Academy Student Policy

Class Behavior

Students are expected to behave appropriately during all dance classes and functions. Students are also expected to listen to the instructor, follow directions at all times and maintain a quiet noise level in the studio. Excessive talking will not be tolerated.

Instructor has the right to dismiss any student if she feels the student is disrupting the class by any means. If the parent is present, the instructor will explain the child's actions. If the parent is not present, the child will remain in the waiting area until the parent arrives.

No food, gum or candy will be allowed in the dance area.

Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle and a towel to class.

Class Attendance

Students are expected to be present for every class.

Attendance will be recorded. If a student is absent for three or more consecutive weeks without notification, a staff member will notify the student's parent(s) by a telephone call, email or by a letter in the mail. Excessive absences may result in the student being dismissed from the class. Make-up classes will not be offered for personal absences.

Tuition

Tuition is due at the beginning of each month. A grace period will be given. After the 15th of the month, a $5.00 late fee will be applied.  Tuition remains the same whether it is a long, 5-week, or short, 3-week month.  A make-up class will be scheduled if classes fall under 3 weeks/month.  If a make-up class is unavailable, a credit will be given.  Credits will not be given for personal absences.  A non-refundable registration fee of $20.00/student will be required when signing up as a student at the Miami Valley Dance Academy.

Studio Closings

In the event of extremely bad weather (i.e. snow, threatening thunderstorms, etc.), classes will be cancelled.  When Springboro Schools are closed due to bad weather, the studio will also be closed.  A schedule of studio closings will be posted at the studio.  You can always check the home page on our website (www.miamivalleydanceacademy.com) for special announcements and closings.

There will be a $50.00 recital fee per student (due by April 15th) to help cover the costs that are involved in putting on a recital. Tickets will NOT be sold. We will have an open attendance policy so all family members and friends who wish may attend.

You may put down a deposit on costumes if you wish. Fees are due in November before Christmas. Some families like putting down a deposit a month or two before the entire amount is due to keep expenses a little bit easier to manage during the holiday season.

Videotaping and photography will only be allowed during the dress rehearsal. A professional edited DVD by Flipbox Productions will be available to purchase at a minimal cost.
